Can I Borrow $25?

Thursday, April 30, 2009

A man came home from work late, tired and irritated, to find his 5-year old son waiting for him at the door.

SON: 'Daddy, may I ask you a question?'

DAD: 'Yeah sure, what it is?' replied the man.

SON: 'Daddy, how much do you make an hour?'

DAD: 'That's none of your business. Why do you ask such a thing?' the man said angrily.

SON: 'I just want to know... Please tell me, how much do you make an hour?'

DAD: 'If you must know, I make $50 an hour.'

SON: 'Oh,' the little boy replied, with his head down.

SON: 'Daddy, may I please borrow $25?'

The father was furious, 'If the only reason you asked that is so you can borrow some money to buy a silly toy or some other nonsense, then you march yourself straight to your room and go to bed. Think about why you are being so selfish. I don't work hard everyday for such childish frivolity's.'

The little boy quietly went to his room and shut the door.

The man sat down and started to get even angrier about the little boy's questions. How dare he ask such questions only to get some money?

After about an hour or so, the man had calmed down , and started to think:

Maybe there was something he really needed to buy with that $25.00 and he really didn't ask for money very often The man went to the door of the little boy's room and opened the door.

'Are you asleep, son?' He asked.

'No daddy, I'm awake,' replied the boy.

'I've been thinking, maybe I was too hard on you earlier' said the man. 'It's been a long day and I took out my aggravation on you. Here's the $25 you asked for.'

The little boy sat straight up, smiling. 'Oh, thank you daddy!' he yelled. Then, reaching under his pillow he pulled out some crumpled up bills.

The man saw that the boy already had money, started to get angry again.

The little boy slowly counted out his money, and then looked up at his father.

'Why do you want more money if you already have some?' the father grumbled.

'Because I didn't have enough, but now I do,' the little boy replied....

'Daddy, I have $50 now. Can I buy an hour of your time? Please come home early tomorrow. I would like to have dinner with you.'

The father was crushed. He put his arms around his l ittle son, and he begged for his forgiveness.

It's just a short reminder to all of you working so hard in life. We should not let time slip through our fingers without having spent some time with those who really matter to us, those close to our hearts. Do remember to share that $50 worth of your time with someone you love.

If we die tomorrow, the company that we are working for could easily replace us in a matter of hours... But the family & friends we leave behind will feel the loss for the rest of their lives.

A food for thought for all of us..

This is a true story that happened in Japan . In order to renovate the house, someone in Japan breaks open the wall. Japanese houses normally have a hollow space between the wooden walls. When tearing down the walls, he found that there was a lizard stuck there because a nail from outside hammered into one of its feet. He sees this, feels pity, and at the same time curious, as when he checked the nail, it was nailed 10 years ago when the house was first built! What happened?

The lizard has survived in such position for 10 years!!!!!!! !!! In a dark wall partition for 10 years without moving, it is impossible and
mind-boggling. Then he wondered how this lizard survived for 10 years, without moving a single step--since its foot was nailed. So he stopped his work and observed the lizard.

Later, not knowing from where it came, appears another lizard, with food in its mouth. Ah! He was stunned and touched deeply. For the lizard that was stuck by nail, another lizard has been feeding it for the past 10 years... Imagine.. it has been doing that untiringly for 10 long years, without giving up hope on its partner.

Think, will u do that to your partner?...
Think that will you do it to your Mom, who brought you after a big struggle of nine long months?

OR at least to your Dad, Friends, Co-workers, brothers and Sisters?

Imagine what a small creature can do that a creature blessed with a brilliant mind can't.

As information and communication technology advances, our access to
information becomes faster and faster. But the distance between human beings . . . is it getting closer as well?

Please never abandon your loved ones..

40 Tips for Better Life - 2008

Tuesday, March 18, 2008

  1. Take a 10-30 minute walk every day. And while you walk, smile. It is the ultimate anti-depressant.
  2. Sit in silence for at least 10 minutes each day. Buy a lock if you have to.
  3. Buy a DVR and tape your late night shows and get more sleep.
  4. When you wake up in the morning complete the following statement, 'My purpose is to __________ today.'
  5. Live with the 3 E's -- Energy, Enthusiasm, and Empathy.
  6. Play more games and read more books than you did in 2007.
  7. Make time to practice meditation and prayer. They provide us with daily fuel for our busy lives.
  8. Spend time with people over the age of 70 and under the age of 6.
  9. Dream more while you are awake.
  10. Eat more foods that grow on trees and plants and eat less food that is manufactured in plants.
  11. Drink green tea and plenty of water. Eat blueberries, broccoli, almonds & walnuts.
  12. Try to make at least three people smile each day.
  13. Clear clutter from your house, your car, your desk and let new and flowing energy into your life.
  14. Don't waste your precious energy on gossip, energy vampires, issues of the past, negative thoughts or things you cannot control. Instead invest your energy in the positive present moment.
  15. Realize that life is a school and you are here to learn. Problems are simply part of the curriculum that appear and fade away like algebra class but the lessons you learn will last a lifetime.
  16. Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince and dinner like a college kid with a maxed out charge card.
  17. Smile and laugh more. It will keep the energy vampires away.
  18. Life isn't fair, but it's still good.
  19. Life is too short to waste time hating anyone.
  20. Don't take yourself so seriously. No one else does.
  21. You don't have to win every argument. Agree to disagree.
  22. Make peace with your past so it won't spoil the present.
  23. Don't compare your life to others'. You have no idea what their journey is all about.
  24. No one is in charge of your happiness except you.
  25. Frame every so-called disaster with these words: 'In five years, will this matter?'
  26. Forgive everyone for everything.
  27. What other people think of you is none of your business.
  28. Time heals almost everything.
  29. However good or bad a situation is, it will change.
  30. Your job won't take care of you when you are sick. Your friends will.. Stay in touch.
  31. Get rid of anything that isn't useful, beautiful or joyful.
  32. Envy is a waste of time. You already have all you need.
  33. The best is yet to come.
  34. No matter how you feel, get up, dress up and show up.
  35. Do the right thing!
  36. Call your family often.
  37. Each night before you go to bed complete the following statements: I am thankful for __________. Today I accomplished _________.
  38. Remember that you are too blessed to be stressed.
  39. Enjoy the ride. Remember this is not Disney World and you certainly don't want a fast pass. You only have one ride through life so make the most of it and enjoy the ride.
  40. Please Forward this to your friends.

    May your troubles be less,
    May your blessings be more,
May nothing but happiness come through your door!

Why did he cry? (A True Story)

A true story that happened in China

A bus full of passengers was travelling on hilly road.

Midway through the journey, 3 armed thugs was eyeing the pretty woman bus driver.

They forced the bus to stop and wanted to have fun with the driver!

The woman driver naturally shouted for help, but all the rest of the passengers just kept quiet.

Then a weakly looking middle-aged man came forth to ask the 3 men to stop; but he was instead beaten up.

The man was very angry and appealed loudly to the other passengers to stop this uncivilised act but nobody responded. And the driver was dragged by the 3 men to the bushes nearby.

An hour later, the 3 thugs and the ruffled driver came back to the bus and the driver is ready to drive off again....

"Hey you, get down the bus!" the woman driver shouted to the man who tried to assist her earlier on.

The man was bewildered and said:
"What's wrong with you? I was trying to save you just now and was I wrong in doing so?"

"You save me? What have you done to save me?"

The driver retorted, and a few of the passengers were quietly laughing away.

The man was really angry. Even though he did not have the ability to save her, he should not be given this treatment at all. He refused to get down the bus and said; "I paid for the trip and I have the right to remain."

The driver put on a grim face and said: "If you don't get down, the bus will not move on."

What was unexpected was that the passengers, who were oblivious to the barbaric act of the thugs just now, suddenly woke up and in a concerted effort asked the man to get down the bus saying:

"You might as well get off the bus, we have things to attend to and cannot afford anymore delays!"

A few stronger passenger were indeed trying to drag the man down the bus

The 3 thugs were smiling knowingly at each other and commented: "We must have done a great job to the lady!"

After much ado, the man's luggage was thrown out the bus window and he was ousted out of the bus.

The bus started on its journey again. The driver straightened up her hair and turned the radio to full volume.

The bus was reaching the hill top and will go downhill after a turn. The right side of the bus was facing an unfathomable cliff.

The speed of the bus increased gradually. The driver's face was very calm with both hands on the steering wheel. Tears started to swell in her eyes.

One of the thug realised something amiss and said to the driver: "Drive slowly, what are you trying to do?"

The driver said nothing, but the bus travelled faster and faster.

The thug tried to grap hold of the steering wheel, but the bus shoot towards the cliff like an arrow leaving the bow.

The next day, the local paper reported a tragic accident at the 'Tiger Taming Hill' region. A medium sized bus fell through the cliff and the driver and the 13 passengers were all killed.

The man who was chased down the bus saw the paper and cried. Nobody knew what was he crying about and why he cried!

You know why he cried?

If you were in the bus, would you stand up like the man did?

We need people like him to create and sustain a normal society!

When we treat others with our hearts; we will receive warmth and love from people!

Can a family man with Salary RM3,000 survive in Malaysia??

Friday, December 21, 2007

Let's do some simple calculations here.

In Malaysia , the average family income is RM3,000 /month
(where father works, mother doesn't).

I understand there are many families whose Monthly income does not reach RM3,000,
But, to make things simple, let's take RM3,000 as the figure. Ok lah, right?

Okay, let's start rolling with a family which has Papa, Mama, 1 daughter and 1 son. Ngam-ngam ....

Calculation starts...

Electricity and water bill: RM100
(No air-con, No home theatre, No water heater ... Ok?)

Phone bill ( Telekom): RM100

Meals for a happy family: RM775
(3 meals on RM25/day, RM25 for 4 persons...?)

Papa makan / the-tarik during working hrs: RM155
(RM5/day, RM5 ... Can eat what?)

Car repayment: RM400
(A proton saga aeroback, 7 yrs repayment)

Petrol (living in city, traffic-jam): RM300
(go to work, bring son to school, Only can afford one car running)

Insurance: RM650
(kids, wife and myself)

House repayment: RM750
(low cost housing repayment for 30 yrs, Retired still have to work to pay!)

Tuition: RM80
(got that cheap meh? I don't think so)

Older children pocket money @ school: RM20
(RM1/day, eat bread?)

School fees: RM30
(enough ah?)

School books and etc: RM100
(always got extra to pay in school)

Younger children milk powder: RM50
(cannot have the DHA, BHA, PHA one, expensive)

Miscellaneous: RM100
(shampoo, rice, sauce, toilet paper)

Oh wait!!! I have to stop here, so...
No Astro,
No movie @ cinema,
No DVD,
No CD,
No online,
Cannot KFC,
Cannot McDonald,
Cannot go Park walk during weekend (petrol expensive),
No chit chat on phone with grandparents, and etc...

Let's use a calculator to total up... WALAO EH! Shit! RM3,610 already...

EPF belum potong, income tax lagi........oledi RM3,610 ....

How to survive lah tuan-tuan Dan puan-puan sekalian ???

Our Deputy Prime Minister asked us to change lifestyle?

How to change? Don't eat? Don't work? Don't send children to school and study?

Besides that, I believe in Malaysia population, there are millions of rakyat Malaysia which still don't earn RM3,000/month!!!

What is this? Inilah Malaysia Boleh... Sorry ... It should be Malaysians Boleh , because we're still alive and kicking!!

Our politicians must be mad!!!!

Please forward and comment boleh or tak boleh. And they wonder why we go to Ah Long. Tolonglah. No wonder so many Ah Loong around lah....
